Low Light / No Light Pistol is an intermediate to advanced course focused on the safe and effective use of a handgun in reduced-light and no-light environments. This course addresses the realities of defensive handgun use when visual information is limited and the shooter must manage the firearm, light, and environment simultaneously.
Instruction emphasizes single-handed pistol operation, handheld and weapon-mounted light use, and the integration of light management with fundamental shooting skills. Students will work through structured drills that reinforce defensive accuracy, cadence, reloads, and problem-solving while operating in low-visibility conditions.
Live-fire exercises are conducted under controlled lighting conditions and progressively reduced illumination to ensure safety while increasing cognitive and mechanical demands. Throughout the course, students are coached on safe gun handling, muzzle discipline, and decision-making when visual cues are limited or absent.
This course is not a beginner class. Due to the requirement for one-handed shooting and manipulation, students must already possess solid defensive pistol fundamentals before attending.
For participation and liability coverage, students must possess a valid Firearms Identification (FID) card or provide proof of legal eligibility to possess and handle firearms in their state of residence. All students are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Low Light / No Light Pistol is intended for students who have completed Defensive Pistol I or II, or who can demonstrate equivalent experience, and are looking to expand their defensive handgun capability into realistic lighting conditions where traditional two-handed shooting and visual confirmation may not be available.
